She came from Douglas and had lived on St. Simons Island for the past 30 years. She was one of the founders of the St. Simons State Bank which is now the Coastal Bank of Georgia. She was the owner of the King and Prince Gift Shop several years ago. She was a member of St. Simons Baptist Church, a member of the Frederica Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was active in community affairs.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donna Jean Bedgood Jones of Macon; three sisters, Mrs. DeAluah Barwick of St. Simons Island, Mrs. Willow Holmes of Atlanta, and Mrs. Mattie Glover of Hazlehurst; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the Bedgood home at 410 Myrtle Street, and ask for memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of St. Simons.
Members of the Frederica Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will serve as honor guard.
