William was the trird child of William Patrick Fitzgerald and Emma Lille Fitzgerald (nee Pflughaupt). He went into the Army 8/11/42, discharged 11/21/44 as Sergeant, Officer Candidate Department Transportation Corps School at New Orleans, La. Interesting qualifications = Rifle M-1 sharpshooter. Also had a "good conduct medal". William had a great sense of humor and always made his youngest sister, Kay (my mom) laugh. William donated his body to science, so not much is known of his final resting place. He is remembered here with his older brother, Norman William Patrick Fitzgerald.
