Roy Ashley, 88 of the Mt. Pleasant community near Slaughters died Saturday, October 27, 2001 at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home. He was a retired employee of Chrysler Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Ashley was a member of the Slaughters Baptist Church, Slaughters Masonic Lodge and the Woodmen of the World, Sebree Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Beverly (Pate) Ashley; two daughters, Jean Wilson of Slaughters and Janette Schaefer of Greenville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Michael Wilson and Maranda Schaefer and two great-grandchildren, Heather and Gregory Wilson. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11:00 from Tompkins Slaughters-Hanson Chapel with Rev. Brad Rogers officiating. Burial was in Slaughters Cemetery.
