Alverta W. Woodsmall, 83, of Mount Pleasant died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born May 23, 1928, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Bert and Margaret McGuigan Hill. On Oct. 6, 1944, she married Paul Leonard "Jake" Woodsmall in Mt. Pleasant. They later divorced.
Mrs. Woodsmall worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown during the Vietnam War and later at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Mount Pleasant. She attended school in Mount Pleasant. She enjoyed country music and crocheting afghans and hot pads.
Survivors include five sons, Jerry Woodsmall of Lockridge, Ronald Woodsmall of Rockford, Ill., Tim Woodsmall of Mount Carmel, Ill., and Kevin Woodsmall and Paul Woodsmall, both of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Anna Marie Baxter of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Duane; two sisters Lil and Annie; 24 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, one granddaughter and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where family will receive friends.
The funeral for Mrs. Woodsmall will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kimzey Funeral Home with the Rev. Dianne Brokken officiating. Burial will be in New Sweden United Methodist Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the family.
