Mary Bake, 95, Humboldt, Kansas, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute, Kansas.

Mary was born May 27, 1916, at rural Yates Center, Kansas, the youngest of 11 children born to Isaac and Nettie Matilda (Chapman) Terrell.

She grew up on the family farm north of Yates Center and attended Yates Center schools.

On August 18, 1949, Mary married Estle Miller Bake at the Burt community north of Yates Center, Kansas. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2004.

She later completed beauty school and operated her own beauty shop.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Humboldt.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn L. Cox, of Austin, TX; a brother, Mervin Terrell, of Kentland, IN; a sister, Ella McClure, of Darrington, WA; and lots of nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, KS. Burial will be in Askren Cemetery northwest of Yates Center, KS.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola.
