Mrs. V. E. Brown of 216 West Lafayette Street yesterday was informed by an army department telegram of the death of her son, Staff Sergeant David C. Brown, 23.
Sergeant Brown was radio technician on a B-29 weather plane which exploded over Cook Inlet near Anchorage, Alaska, December 31, 1947. His family received a message that he was missing at this time.
The telegram stated that none of the bodies lost in the tragedy has been recovered.
A native of Salisbury, Sergeant Brown worked as a clerk for the Southern Railway before entering service. He served two years during the war and reenlisted 18 months ago.
