William Wallace Straley, was the son of Rev. James Oglethorpe Straley Sr. and Lula Mayo Anderson. William may have been born in Bristol County, VA, where his parents were married on 2 Oct 1890.

William is buried in the Family plot of Benjamin F. Bruce, b. 16 Oct 1853, d. 3 Sep 1904, bur. 5 Sep 1904. He was a railroad conductor for the Chattanooga Railroad and the son of Rev. Bailey Bruce, originally from North Carolina, then removed to DeKalb County, AL.

Also buried in the family plot is an infant male Bruce, born and died 8 May 1888, and Oscar D. Bruce, b. 19 Mar 1880, d. 2 Jan 1899, bur. 5 Jan 1899. William Straley and Oscar Bruce both died of Spinal Meningitis within 2 weeks of each other.
