FUNERAL IN HAYDEN
Louis A. Johnson who had been a resident of the Williams Pork country near Pagoda for over 50 years died in Craig at the home of Mrs. Murl Heaton Monday night. He had been in falling health for a long time. He was brought to Craig Saturday suffering from a heart ailment and other complications.
Louis A. Johnson was born April 19, 1860 at Nebraska City, Nebraska. He became self supporting by working for his mother on the Nebraska farm where the family lived at the early age of 10 years.
In 1874 at the age of 14 he came with his father to Colorado and found employment in the mining activity at Central City.
Ten years later, he decided to take up ranching and came to Northwestern Colorado to look over the territory. He stopped in the Williams Fork country finding employment for a time in hunting and trapping. He then returned to Central City where he worked in the mines for another year to secure additional funds for his farming venture.
In 1886 he returned to Northwestern Colorado and took up a homestead on South Fork of Williams River near Pagoda. He developed the property and continued to make his home there until his death.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, Clarence and Albert, both of Pagoda; one step-daughter, Mrs. Rozella Sines of Hayden, Colo.; and two sisters, Miss Lena Johnson and Mrs. Rozella Egry both of Denver. Funeral services were held this morning at 11 o'clock at the Hayden Congregational Church. Interment was in the Hayden Cemetery.
