BEDA E. FURNEY, 96, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Covington Manor Nursing Home. "Loving mother, grandmother and friend." Born June 5, 1907, in Bucyrus, Ohio.

She worked in sales for 50 years at Wolf & Dessauer, Sears and Howards, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and volunteered for Lutheran Hospital, Embassy Theater, Civic Theater, Audiences Unlimited and the Red Cross. Her husband, Kenneth A. Furney, died in 1958.

Survivors include, son, Thomas A. (Sally) Furney of Fort Wayne; grandsons, Christopher Furney of Easton, Pa., Jeffrey Furney of Fort Wayne; and six great-grandchildren.

Service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church, 207 E. DeWald St., with visitation from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the church. Visitation is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery.
