Denton "Doc" Mitchell Threet, 80, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 19, 2003. Funeral services were held Jan. 21 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The Rev. Faye and the Rev. Bratton Tucker officiated, with special music by the Rev. Bratton Tucker.
Mr. Threet was born March 11, 1922 in Wilder, TN, the son of William Harrison and Mary Jane Winningham Threet.
He was a retired maintenance worker for Catoosa Knitting Mills having also worked maintenance at Cumberland Mountain State Park for 12 years. He was an Army veteran, having served during World War II, and a member of Homestead Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie Threet of Crossville; sons and daughter-in-law, Mitch Threet and Steve and Peggy Threet, all of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Royce Burgess of Crossville; brothers, Benton Threet, Vinston Threet and Walter Threet, all of Crossville; grandchildren, Charlie Threet, Kallie Threet, Jo Bryson, Eric Burgess, Jack Threet, Michael Threet, Meredith Threet and Tessa Burgess; and great-granddaughter, Julie Brook Bryson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clinton Threet; and sister, Christine Emery.
Pallbearers were Royce Burgess, Eric Burgess, Jack Denton Threet, Edward Threet, Larry Threet and Jule Bryson.
Hood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
