Mr. James "J.D." Dewey Goin, age 83, of Westfield, husband of Maxine Simmons Goin, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012.
He was born on October 9, 1928 in Stokes County, to the late Frank and Ida Fulp Goin.
Mr. Goin worked as a motor grader operator for NC Department of Transportation and was of a member of Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Goin is survived by one son and a daughter-in-law, James Davis and Renee Goin of Westfield (Collinstown community); one daughter and a son-in-law, Kathryn and Jimmy Barker of Westfield (Asbury community); four grandchildren, Ginger (Jason) Hodges, Cassidy Goin, Cortney Goin and Damon Goin; four great-grandchildren, Amber, Jackson and Adalee Hodges and Cainen Anderson.
Mr. Goin was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. where he will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service with Dr. Joel Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and at other times at the home of James and Renee Goin.
