George Bachman, a life long resident of Salem township, died at his home Monday afternoon. His death resulted from a complication of diseases. He was bedfast only ten days, although he had been in failing health for some time.
Mr. Bachman was born in Salem township March 2, 1855, to Daniel and Catharine Sprau Bachman, both deceased, and was aged 78 years, 2 months and 13 days at the time of death. His marriage to Catharine Binau took place February 9, 1879. Mrs. Bachman died twentysome years ago. Nine children were born to this union, they being Mrs. Leonard Beldelschies and Mrs. Wesley Smith of this city; Mrs. Daniel Callahan, of Lima; Carl Bachman, of near Carey; Albert Bachman and Mrs. Elmer Rossman, of Salem township; Leonard Bachman, whose residence is unknown, and Mrs. William Schmidt and Mrs. Robert Gottfried, who are deceased. Surviving are also twenth eight grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Ulrich, of Mifflin township; Mrs. John Binau, of this city and Mrs. Susan Mann Morris, of Marion and a abrother, Charles Bachman, of this city, are also survivors.
Deceased was a faithful member of the North Salem Lutheran church. He followed the occupation of farming all his life. He was held in high esteem by a host of relatives and friends.
