Neal P. Barnes died at his home on Wabash avenue Sunday, August 14,at 5:30 a.m. The deceased had been sick only a few hours,death being caused by cerebral hemorrhage.
Mr.Barnes was a native of Lawrence co. and was on Nov. 12,1867, the son of Alfred and Martha Ellen Miller Barnes and step-son of Wiley Adams.At death he was aged 64 yrs.9 moms. 2days.
he was married to Molly Gaddy on March 2,1889. Five children survive,namely,Earl Barnes,Mount Carmel, Lewis Barnes, Muncie,Ind.; Mrs. Irene Hambrick, Muncie, Ind.; Mrs. Tress Lytle, Vincennes,Ind. and Neal,Jr. of Knox Co. Ind.
Three children,Della, Oren and one infant daughter preceded him in death.
There are also the follewing surviving brothers and sisters; Richard Barnes, Mrs. Mary Gabbert, Mrs. Emma Ewing of Mount Carmel. The following are half-brothers and sister, Oliver Adams,Charles Adams, William (Jumbo) Adams of Mount Carmel and Laura Sampson of Paris, Ill.
Four grandchildren, Mrs. Eleanor Campbell, Bobbie , Harold and Donald Jean Barnes and one great grandchild,Genesse Campbell, all of Muncie,Ind. also survive.
He worked at the gravel company as engineer.
Burial was in Highland Cem.
