Charles Ray Harrison, 60, of Independence, Kan. died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 in Overland Park, Kan.
Charles was born Sept. 14, 1951 in Kermit, Texas to William D. and Mary Tressie (Doherty) Harrison. Charles grew up and received his education in Texas and in Enid, Ok., where he graduated in 1970. Charles married Rita Sharon Hardesty Aug. 21, 1970 in Enid and they made their home there until 1992 when they moved to Washington state. They lived there until 1999 when they moved to Independence where they made their home since that time.
Charles was an operator in a fertilizer plant in 1980 until he had to take a medical leave in October 2010. Charles liked motorcycles and working.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Charles is survived by his wife Rita of the home; two children Misty Harrison of Wichita, Kan., and David Harrison of Kennewick, Wash.; five grandchildren; brothers Bill Harrison of Edmond, J.W. Harrison of South Lauderdale, Miss. and Ron Harrison of El Reno; sister; Patsy Galvan of Canyon Lake, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Casket escorts for the services were J.W. Harrison, Bill Harrison, Mike Johnson, Richard Hardesty, James Hardesty and Malcom Combs.
Music for the services was performed by Mike Johnson.
Music selections were "Amazing Grace," "Mansion Over A Hilltop" and "Look For Me."
Funeral services and interment were under the direction of Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
