The Syracuse Daily Standard, Saturday, September 12, 1874 had this to say:
- Mr. Jeremiah Cornell, an old and respected citizen of Cincinnatus, died suddenly on the 4th inst. He had eaten breakfast and appeared in usual health. For about eight months he had been deprived of the use of his lower limbs, and just before his death he called his wife to assist him in getting up from his bed, and while rendering such assistance, his head suddenly dropped forward, and he almost immediately expired.
