Maxine Hensley, 79, of 317 N. Turkey Creek Road, Liberty, Indiana died Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. She had been in failing health since June 17.
Maxine was born April 25, 1921 in Connersville, Indiana the daughter of Alva and Rose Powell. She was a Union County resident since 1953, and, prior to that lived in Connersville. She had worked at Rex Manufacturing and Lincoln Manor as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed her family and loved to travel.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis O. Hensley, whom she married May 15, 1953 at First Baptist Church in Connersville; a daughter, Penny Hensley of Versailles, Kentucky; six sons, Omer Blakley and Randy Hensley of Liberty, Larry Blakley of Dayton, Ohio, Ronald Blakley of Lexington, Kentucky, Leon Blakley of Connersville, and Marty Hensley of Abington, Indiana; a step-son, Curtis Lee Hensley of Sacramento, California; a brother Gale Powell of Brookville, Indiana, two sisters Wilhelmane Blakley and Patricia Hensley of Liberty; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters - Nellie Nicholson, Marjorie Collins, Frieda Campbell, and Helen Kathleen Powell; and, three brothers - Alvin Powell, Jesse Powell and Francis Powell.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville with the Rev. Thomas James of Brookville United Pentecostal Church and the Rev. John Clegg of Southside Church or God in Muncie officiating.
Burial will be in Dale Cemetery, Connersville. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
