Shirley Augusta Carter Collie of 2012 Piney Grove Road, Alton died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at The Woodview.
Born in Halifax County on Sept. 10, 1919, she was 92 at the time of her death.
She was the daughter of the late Johnny Green Carter and Fannie Stanfield Carter and was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayman Taylor Collie.
She was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Collie is survived by a daughter, Nancy Collie Hatcher and husband, Dewey of Halifax, four sons, Johnnie Lee Collie Sr. and wife Virginia and Ronnie Collie and wife, Barbara, all of Alton and Carroll Collie and wife, Vicky and Donnie Collie and wife, Laura, all of South Boston, a number of grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at Olive Branch United Methodist Church on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Woodfin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. and at other times at the home.
