Ronald Alvin Wiblemo was born Nov 18, 1929 in Parker, SD to Alvin H and Audrae (Ervin) Wiblemo. He came to Mitchell in 1936, graduating from Mitchell High School, where he was a standout athlete: a football quarterback, basketball guard, pole-vaulter and pitcher for the Mitchell American Legion team. After graduating from high school at the age of 17, he signed a contract as a pitcher with the Brooklyn Dodger organization. He played for three Dodgers teams over the course of two seasons. Arm problems ended his bid for a professional career, and he attended Mankato State University, where he played baseball and football. While at Mankato, he met and married Beverly Smith of Elmore, MN on June 26, 1950, in Mitchell. He finished his degree and played basketball at Dakota Wesleyan University. He began a career as a teacher and a coach at Alexandria, Fedora, and then 13 years at Wagner. During his summers, he was a player/coach at the semi-pro level in South Dakota. During his tenure in Wagner, he also earned his Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling at the University of South Dakota. In 1969, he moved back to Mitchell and purchased the Scoreboard, which he managed until his death. Mr Wiblemo is survived by his wife; 10 children, Mrs Greg (Rhonda) Schneringer, Clarksville, TN; Scott, Armour; Ronald, Jr, Belle Fourche; Thomas, Lander, WY; Mrs Spencer (Marilyn) Berry, Houston, TX; Mrs Dan (Patricia) Case, Vermillion; Mrs Tom (Jackie) Olson, Mitchell; Cathy, Spearfish; Jerry, Mitchell; and Luci, Yankton; two brothers, Jerald, Auburn, WA and Andres, Seal Beach, CA; three sisters, Mrs Don (Ann) Barnhart, White River; Mrs Carl (Marilyn) Buchner, Columbia, MO; and Mrs Paul (Carol) Heilstadt, Frankfort, IL; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
