JONNIE LILLIAN KING SMELSER
Jonnie Lillian King Smelser passed away July 10, 1999. She was born July 21, 1905, in Hominy, Okla.
Jonnie King married Hiram Edward Smelser in May 1922. Mr. Smelser preceded her in death. She is survived by their three children, Elizabeth and husband, Leonard, of San Angelo, Edna White of Menard and Edward Smelser of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Bart Lee and wife, Karen, John Lee and wife, Deborah, Susan Smelser Hill and husband, Rod, Lisa White Koca and husband, Jim, and Dave Smelser; and three great-grandchildren, Jason and Adam Hill of Oklahoma and Lanna Bell of Lewisville.
Jonnie Smelser became a Christian in her youth and served God faithfully. She taught children in Texan Union Sunday School and was a member of the choir at worship services.
Mr. and Mrs. Smelser were members of College Hills Baptist Church of San Angelo, where they served in the senior adult Sunday school. Mrs. Smelser was a member of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Smelser was a resident of a local nursing home for several years. She left many friends among staff and residents of the home.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Gutierrez Funeral Chapels.
