LINCOLNTON - Mr. Charles Adolphus Yount, 87, of Reepsville Road, Lincolnton, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008. Mr. Yount was born April 21, 1921, in Lincoln County to the late Adolphus and Essie Heavner Yount. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, Mr. Yount returned home to the family farm and was a life-long farmer until his death. He served more than 50 years with the Lincoln Co. Farm Bureau and more than 50 years as a board member with Union Volunteer Fire Department, with many of those years as treasurer. Mr. Yount was a lifetime member of Daniels Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir for 70 years. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Alda Keener Yount, of the home; daughters, Linda Yount Wyant and husband, Jerry, of Vale and Betty Yount Leonard of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren, Tommy Wyant and wife, Connie, Susan Barrett and husband, Tim, David Wyant and wife, Brandi, Lori McBryde and husband, David, Jason Leonard, Darren Leonard and Cayla Leonard; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ilese Whisenant of Morganton. His funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Daniels Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ted Bost officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton. Memorials may be made to the Daniels Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 3290 Reepsville Road, Lincolnton, N.C. 28092. Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton is serving the Yount family.
