Mrs. Fannie Mays Dean was born in Jessamine County, June 20, 1843; married W. H. Dean, Feb. 6, 1866. Mrs. Frank Sagesaw of Hale City, Texas and John Mays of Little Hickman are the only sister and brother living. Dr. Nelson Mays, deceased, of Richmond was a brother. Mrs. Dean received her education at Jessamine Institute and was ever a zealous advocate of education, encouraging her own children and those of her neighbors to make the most of their opportunities. ???? a devoted wife and mother, she showed her deep christianity in home and neighborhood life in quiet, gentle ways that will ever be remembered by those who have had the happiness to live nearby. By her constant, patient attention to duty, she set an example of a Godly life, not only to her large family, but to all others who came within the circles of her friendship. As a grateful friend who knew her and her honorable, sturdy husband for many years, I pen this tribute to Mrs. Dean, trusting that every one of her children will emulate the noble character of their devoted self-sacrificing mother, who departed this life Aug. 10, 1918
