ERNEST D. WELCH
NORTH POWNAL - Ernest D. Welch, 46, of North Pownal, who had been employed at the Warren Wire Co., died Wednesday at Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington.
Born in Pownal Oct 3, 1920, he was a son of John D. and Beatrice (Mattison) Welch. He had received his education in the Pownal schools and was married Nov 9, 1946 in Bennington to the former N. Marie Buck.
Fond of the outdoors, he had been interested in fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; one son, John J. Welch, who is serving with the U.S. Army in Germany; his father, John D. Welch of Salem, N.Y.; four sisters, Mrs. Auleta Thompson of Pownal Center, Mrs. Francis Harper of Bennington, Mrs. Arnold Langlois of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Hollis Peck of Salem, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 am at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Buck of North Pownal. Friends may call there after 2 pm today and all day Friday.
Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home of Bennington is in charge of arrangements and burial in the spring will be in Hoosick Cemetery.
