Jesse William "Bill" Hitchcock was born 23 Mar 1889 in Marshall County, Kansas; the fourth of seven children born to Lincoln K. and Susan (Carson) Hitchcock.

Bill was united in marriage 30 Aug 1911 near Maryville, Nodaway County, Missouri with Rosa "Glenna" Gilmore; daughter of Quincy Adams and Clemma E. (Shinall) Gilmore.

Bill and Glenna were the parents of six children:

1. Howard Hadley born 1912 married Emma Jeanette Nygaard

2. William Donald (Don) born 1913 married Lola Juanita Whitehead

3. Ralph Wayne born 1915 married Marcella Frances Wood

4. Mary Florence born 1917 married Clarence Adam "Hank" Alloway

5. Thelma Louise born 1919 married William Alfred "Short" Linville

6. Vernon Warren born 1921 married Christine Frances Lucua

Bill passed away 21 Nov 1946 in Maryville, Nodaway County, Missouri at the age of 57 years. He was laid to rest in Groves Cemetery in Graham, Nodaway, Missouri.

Obituary:

Jesse William Hitchcock was born March 23, 1889 in Marshall County, Kansas, and passed away November 21, 1946 at the Martin Landfather hospital in Maryville, where he had been a patient one week. He had been in poor health for a number of years, but was only seriously ill the past four weeks. He was married to Miss Glenna Gilmore August 30, 1911 near Maryville.

He is survived by his wife, and four sons: Howard Hitchcock of Astoria, South Dakota; Donald Hitchcock of Skidmore; Wayne Hitchcock of Los Angeles, California; Chief Petty Officer Vernon W. Hitchcock of Philadelphia, Penn; and two daughters: Mrs. Mary Alloway of Skidmore; Mrs. Alfred Linville of Graham; and thirteen grandchildren. Three brothers: Roy Hitchcock of Harrison, Ark.; Frank and Charley Hitchcock of Skidmore; and one sister: Mrs. Frank Messner of Graham. He also leaves a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Christian Church in Skidmore. The service was in charge of Rev. Robert Smith of Maitland. Two hyms were sung by a quartette, the members being: Mrs. Hallie Merritt, Mrs. H.C. Hofer, Fred Barrett and H.P. Botkin. Miss Mabel Dysart was piano accompanist. The pall bearers were: Donald Keever, Harlen Linville, Bud Irwin, Wayne Hazlett, John Randall, and Loren Baublitts. Those in charge of the flowers were: Mrs. Billie Hitchcock Jr., Mrs. Kenneth Foster, Mrs. Hershell Pew, Mrs. Donald Keever and Miss Norma Lee Menser. All are neices except Mrs. Keever. Burial was in Groves cemetery near Graham.
