Mrs. Rachel Virginia Barnhouse, 57, Clarksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Western Maryland Center, Hagerstown. She was the wife of Carroll C. Barnhouse Sr.
Born in Germantown, Aug. 14, 1923, Mrs. Barnhouse was a daughter of the late John L. and Ethel May Lowe Best.
Surviving, besides her husband, are eight children, Carroll C. Barnhouse Jr., of Fredericksburg. Va., Jerry Allen Barnhouse of Boston, Mass., DeWitt Asher Barnhouse of Poolesville, Mrs. Martha Jane Lowe of Lewistown, John Franklin Barnhouse of Mount Airy, Miss Linda Paillette Barnhouse of King George, Va., Glenn Edward Barnhouse of Clarksburg and Mrs. Lee Star Doane, Dickerson; one brother, John L. Best, Clarksburg: two sisters. Mrs. Martha Alice Cook, Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Evelyn Osborne, Boyds; one half brother, Ernest C. Barnhouse, Gaithersturg; one half sister, Mrs. Romona Hawk, Seneca; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, Damascus. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Clarksburg Baptist Church. The Rev. Ronald L. Hayes will officiate. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
