Mrs. Anna F. Caswell, 90, of North Main Road, the first woman school bus driver in Rhode Island and believed to be the first in the United States, died Sunday in Newport. She was the wife of the late Norman F. Caswell. Born in Jamestown on January 25, 1891, she was a daughter of Mary McGee and John Eaton Gladding. A life-long Jamestown resident, she was born on the Burpee estate in the Dumplings where her father was caretaker. She leaves two sons, including Jack E. Caswell of Jamestown; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery.
