Mr. Frank Reid, 85, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the University of Ms. Medical Center in Jackson, Ms. Funeral services were held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 11th at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Ralph Cain officiating, with burial in the Eupora City Cemetery.
Mr. Reid was born October 25, 1926 in Ackerman, Ms. He graduated Ackerman High School and served in the United States Army as a Surgical Technician II at Walter Reed Army Hospital. He received the World War II Victory Medal. He was a long time resident of Eupora, Ms. He was an owner/operator truck driver until his retirement. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Mel and Ruth Hunt Reid; and his brother Thomas Larkin Reid.
Survivors include his children, Barbara Dewberry of Mantee, Becky (Tommy)Springer of Mantee, Martha (Larry) Johnson of Eupora, Frank (Derinda) Reid, Jr. of Tupelo and Elaine (Dexter) Pate of Mantee. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Reid McKnight of Ridgeland; a brother, Beacher King of Greenwood; the mother of his children, Janette McCain Reid of Eupora; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were William Reid, Hayden and Dexter Pate, Tommy Springer, Larry Johnson and Charles Reid Simpson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Earl Pryor Doolittle, Dub McCain, Johnny Black, Bob Gary, Donald Woods and James Spruill.
