HITCHCOCK, ABIJAH--Born May 14, 1759. Died April 9, 1844, aged 84 years, 10 months and 25 days. Grave in Ellington (Pioneer)Cemetery, town of Ellington. Enlisted May, 1777, at Brimfield, Mass. Served three years as private under Captain Toogood and Col. Nixon in Mass. Militia. Was at the battle of Saratoga, at the taking of Burgoyne. Is mentioned in the Pension List of 1840. Was united in marriage to Miriam Gilbert, Dec. 3, 1782. Was married to Anna Bliss, August 3, 1795. She was born Dec. 9, 1773, in Wilbreham, Mass. Her death occurred Dec. 6, 1863, aged 90 years. A daughter was born in 1799. A daughter Anna, son Onerimus and two other children were born to them. They moved to New York state at an early date.
