DORA ELLEN GEER

Dora Ellen Geer, 95, died Jan. 20, 2003. She was born April 27, 1907, in Petosky, Mich. to Joseph W. and Nancy Ellen (Wise) Sala. Dora's father was a Brethren minister and frequently moved his family to support his ministerial duties.
....She was raised in Michigan, Indiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and finally Colorado. When the family moved to Washington State, Mrs. Geer and several siblings stayed behind.
....She married Frederick A. Geer on April 12, 1931, in Rocky Ford. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary in Blackwell, Okla. She was an active member of her church, and cooked in local nursing homes. Until recently, she made and donated clothing, baby quilts and blankets, and other hand-made items for the church's charities. She was a member of the Friendly Neighbors Club.
....She is survived by her children, Marjorie E. Ireland of Canon City, Jerry D. of Tacoma, Wash., Wayne F. of Englewood, two other sons (living at time of Memorial), 29 grandchildren, and one great grandchild and sibling Freeda Spurlock of Canon City.
....She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sons, Richard A., Robert E. and Albert W.; siblings, Ida Fancher, Warren, Omar, Charles, Harry, Roy and Ray.
....Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January. 22, at Holt Family Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Holt Chapel of the Garden. Interment to follow at Mountain Vale Memorial Park.
....A luncheon will be served at the First Christian Church, following interment.
