Isabella "Izzy B" Rose Hayes, East Lynne, 10 month old daughter of Nathan and Lori (Schmoll) Hayes, earned her angel wings on July 21, 2010 at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City from complications after her second heart surgery on July 2010.
Isabella was born September 17, 2009 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Kansas City.
She was born seven weeks premature, weighing only 3 pounds, 6 ounces.
She was diagnosed at 13 days old with a congenital heart defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Even from the beginning she was a fighter.
Isabella spent the first 4- 1/2 months of her life at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City awaiting, undergoing and recovering from her first heart surgery.
She finally came home on January 28, 2010 and began learning how to be a baby. Isabella, along with many supporters (Team Gettin' Busy for Izzy) participated in the Kansas City Heart Walk in May with the CHD Families Association. She was a big hit!
Isabella had such a strong, tough little personality. She was an extremely happy baby, even through all her struggles. She was truly an inspiration to everyone she met, and many she didn't meet.
"Izzy B." was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James Hayes.
She is survived by her parents; Nathan and Lori (Schmoll) Hayes of East Lynne, Missouri, one sister; Chloe Hayes of Ashland, Kentucky; her paternal grandmother; Joyce Adkins of Ashland, Kentucky; her maternal grandparents; Max and Gayle (Prewitt) Schmoll of Pleasant Hill; her paternal great grandparents, Bessie Breakfield of New Martinsburg, Ohio; Harold Wayne Baker of Olive Hills, Kentucky; and Betty Stevens of Lynchfield, Kentucky; her aunts and uncles, Amy Schmoll & Doug Johnson of Harrisonville; Abbie Schmoll and Boyd Engelhardt of Butler; Jeremy and Krista Hayes, Justin Hayes and Amanda Johnson, all of Ashland, Kentuck; eight cousins, and many other loving relatives, friends and supporters.
Services were held 10 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill with Pastor Nancy Cantrell and Rev. Mark Turvaville officiating.
Casket Bearers were Nathan Hayes and Jeremy Hayes.
Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
