Mrs. George F. Rex died at her home in Kahoka, Wednesday, June 3, 1896, at 5 o'clock p. m., after an illness of several weeks duration, of stomach trouble. The funeral occurred from the family residence, Thursday, June 4th, at 3:00 p.m.; sermon by Rev. Samuel Knupp, pastor of the M. E. church, of which deceased was a member. After services at the home a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends followed the remains to their resting place in the family plat in Kahoka cemetery.

Miss Carrie L., daughter of Bryant and Louisa M. Bartlett, was born at Bluffdale, Ill., February 27th 1844. She came with her parents in 1848, to Nauvoo, Ill., and in 1851 to Hamilton. In 1870 the family moved to Clark City, Mo., where Carrie L. was married, in Oct 1871, to Mr. George F. Rex, who survives her. Of this union six children were born all of whom survive. They are Louisa, George E., Mary, Flora, Grace and Clarence. Of her father's family but one member is now living, a brother, Mr. E. R. Bartlett, of Memphis. She professed Christianity at an early age, uniting with the Free Will Baptist church. Shortly after marriage she united with the M. E. church of which she remained and active and faithful member until death. Mrs. Rex was a very intelligent woman and popular both in church and social circles. She was a leader in temperance work and any cause looking to the betterment of mankind could confidently look to her as an active champion. Her home life was pure and loyal and her death bereaves a husband of a devoted wife and her children of a kind and loving mother. She will be missed and mourned both in church and home.
