Visher Crolius Pomeroy was the son of Francis Virgil Pomeroy and Margaret Ellen Reveler Pomeroy. As a young man, Visher wanted to "see the country" and traveled to many places in the US. Visher worked various jobs including ore tunnels, St. Paul Railroad, Moffitt Railroad, brakeman on Lake Superior in 1907, and on Iron Mountain in Channing, MI hauling ore. When Visher was 21 years old, he and his brother Verl and sister Iola went on a train to Denver and Sawpit, CO. Visher stayed in Sawpit for 13 years. During this time, Visher met Ada Alice Ashard. Visher was married to Ada Alice Ashard on July 3, 1915 in Nucla, Montrose Cty, CO. Visher was working in the silver, gold, uranium, and valadium mines mining ore. Visher and Ada had six children. Vivienne Bertha, b. Mar 11, 1916, Sawpit, CO, married DeMar W. Merrill, two daughters, Barbara Jean, b. January 25, 1936 in Bisbee, AZ and Sharon Lee, born February 26, 1940, in Bisbee, AZ; Thyera Florence, b. Aug 22, 1919, Nucla, CO, married Charles W. Dexter, one child; Ruth Lila, b. Nov 23, 1921, Nucla, CO, married John H. Jett, one son, Donald, (lst husband), Raymond Cheney, 3 children (second husband, divorced; Raymond Visher, b. Jan 13, 1924, Bisbee, AZ (married Peggy, divorced), married Charlene LeMay, 3 children; Betty Marie, b. Feb 24, 1930, Bisbee, AZ; Victoria Adalyn, b. Jul 08, 1942 in Portland, OR (married Gary Wood,two children, divorced, married Paul Smith, one child). During one period of Visher and Ada's marriage, the family moved to Bisbee, AZ where they lived for 18 years. Visher worked for the copper mines in Bisbee, AZ. In 1926, Visher contracted Silicosis of the lungs from working so long in the mines. Visher received many awards for his work associated with the mines. In 1940, the family moved to Powell Butte, Oregon where they lived on a farm followed by a move to St. Johns in later years. Visher passed away in Portland, OR, 24 February 1963. Ada died on 10 March 1980 in Portland, OR, age 84.
