William, a Salesman, died at 403 N. Gay St., son of Thomas & Jane (Wieble) Sefton.

"Mr. Sefton was following the pursuit of a blacksmith until the Civil War. In 1861 William E. Sefton joined Company G. of the Twenty-third Ohio Infantry. He participated in all of the engagements with his regiment, including the battles of Carnifex Ferry, WV, 10 Sept 1861. He was wounded at the battle of Cloyd Mountain, on the 9th of May, 1864 and was honorably discharged.

He was a salesman for a number of years and was general manager of the Princess Plow Company. In June, 1896, he was elected assistant superintendent of the Ohio State Reformatory and in 1897 became the superintendent. "
