Wilson Ligon Gray, of Eleventh Ave., NE, Hickory, died Monday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salisbury following a period of failing health.

A native of Georgia, he was born Jan. 1, 1919, a son of the late James T, and Emma Clara Gray. Gray, a retired fixer for Windy City Knitting Mills, served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Hickory post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 48.

Rev. Bobby Lee Combs will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sweetwater Presbyterian Church, Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Surviving ape four children, Johnny N, Gray o! California, Randy Scott Gray of Hickory, Mrs. Jean P!lemons of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Guy (Carolyn) Martin Jr. of Hildebran; five sisters, Mrs. Ruby Robinson of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Martha Denuizo of Miami, Fila., and Mrs. Francis Yount; Mrs. Louise Huffman and Mrs. Jane Bolick, all of Hickory; five brothers, Bill Gray, Bobby Gray and John Gray, all of Hickory, and Lonnie Gray of Ohio and Nelson Gray of Conover; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
