FOUND DEAD ON THE FLOOR
GEORGE SMITH, OF LEONARD, SHELBY COUNTY, MISSOURI, DIED VERY
Suddenly, and His Wife Fell, Trying to Reach Him.
SHELBYVILLE, Mo., May 29.— George Smith, an old resident of Leonard, near here, was found dead at his home there last Monday morning. His wife, stated that Mr. Smith got up about 1 o'clock a. m. to replenish the fire and took sick and called to her. Mrs. Smith, who has been sick for several months, was unable to reach him. She attempted to go to his assistance, but fell on the floor and there remained in her night clothes for about seven hours, when she attracted the attention of Henry Stuart's little boy by tapping on the window with a stick and calling for help. Mrs. Smith was immediately cared for and for a time it was feared that the exposure and shock of her husband's death would prove fatal, but yesterday she was reported better. Mr. Smith was 74 years old. His remains were buried today at Antioch cemetery. He leaves a wife, three sons and one daughter.
