She was born and grew up in Howard Township, Washington County, IN.

At age 39, she married David Ogdon on 29 Oct 1908. She moved to Newell, Vermillion Illinois and in 1910 lived with her husband and her new-born daughter, Salome. Also in household was Lelia Ogdon, age 14, David Ogdon's daughter by his 1st wife (deceased). David was a banker.

On 3 Jul 1914, she was in a car/train accident at Hoopsville, IL; Elva Ann "Anna" and her daughter Salome survived the accident. According to newspaper, Anna had not been expected to live. Anna's husband, David Lincoln Ogdon died. Anna's mom and sister died.

After the accident, she moved back to Washington Co., IN, to Salem, to a rented house on Hackberry Street, with her daughter, per 1920 census. The 1930 census shows her living in Louisville, KY, with her 20-year old daughter, a secretary.
