Mr. Rufus Jones, 73 years old, resident of Whitley City, died at his home on February 10. Mr. Jones was a well known resident of the county, in which he had spent his life as a farmer and leaves a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held at the Second Baptist Church at ten o'clock on Monday morning, February 12, with Rev. Levi Cox officiating. Burial was in the Holloway cemetery. Survivors include his widow and five children by this marriage; four sons and four daughters by a previous marriage.
Son of Harrison Jones and Zilpha Strunk. Married Leona Whitehead and Eva Perkins Alton. His death date is wrong on the headstone. His 2nd wife's family replaced the original tombstone and the error was probably made at that time. I know he died the day before my grandfather (his son in law).∼Kentucky, Death Records, 1852-1953
