Memorial services for Hollis J. Sloan, Matherville, will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Family Funeral Services, Viola. Family burial will be 1 p.m. Monday in Farlow Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Sloan died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Lynncrest Manor, Aledo. He was employed as an auto body repair specialist at Henderson Ford Sales, Aledo. He retired in 1985.
He was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Blandsville [sic], Mo. He married Betty Arkle in 1946. She died in 1987. He served on a freighter with the Coast Guard in the Philippines 1943-46.

Survivors include a daughter, Cathie Pitman, Aledo; a son, Wayne, Bisbee, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and brothers, William, Robert and Jack, all of Matherville.
