Mrs. Ed Satter's Long Illness Ends; Funeral in Salem
Mrs. Edward Satter, nee Amelia Julia DeMacon, 67, died early Tuesday, June 17, in Benedictine nursing home, Mt. Angel, where she had been cared for since late spring. Invalided for six years, she had been cared for at their Salem home by her husband, a former Canby Herald publisher and longtime linotype operator with the Oregon Statesman. Interment in Belcrest Memorial park, Salem, will follow Thursday 10 a.m. services in the Howell-Edwards chapel there.
Born in Woodburn as Amelia DeMacon, Mrs. Satter had lived in Canby, Roseburg and Salem, in the latter city since 1927. She and her husband operated a small grocery store near the State hospital many years.
Surviving are the widower, a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Donna) Lebold of Dallas, and three sons, Richard in New Jersey, Darrell and Robert of Salem; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Mrs. George (Louise) Melum of Canby, Gilbert DeMacon of Dexter, Ore., Mrs. Rose Steen of Vernonia and Mrs. William (Agnes) Harvey of Oregon City, and sister-in-law of Mrs. W. O. Melum and Gilbert Satter of Canby.
