George McGriff, Prominent Farmer and Horseman, Dies at Gordon Last Thursday
George McGriff,73, father of Clyde McGriff of near West Sonora, died last Thursday morning at his home a short distance north of Gordon, after a lingering illness of several years. He was a prominent farmer, and for many years was noted as an owner and driver of race horses. He drove at county fairs in this section.
Mr. McGriff formerly resided at Ithaca, where he was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge, but had made his home near Gordon for many years.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the residence, with Rev. N. E. Linebaugh of Arcanum officiating. Burial was in the Ithaca cemetery.
Surviving are his wife Elizabeth and seven children, Clyde of West Sonora, Gus of Dayton, Harry and Estey of Darke County, Mrs. Roy Besecker of Arcanum, and Mrs. Hamilton Foster and Mrs. Ernest Bader of Dayton
