Lorenz Bamberg was born in Igel, Germany - the 2nd of 5 children born to Johannes and Mariae Bamberg. He was christened Laurentius Bamberg in the Catholic Church in Igel. In 1878 Lorenz immigrated to the United States. He initially settled in Kansas where he worked as a farmer. He married the love of his life (Catharina Roeder) in 1883 and they had 8 children together. Lorenz and Catharina moved their growing family to Kingfisher, Oklahoma during the great land rush of 1893 and Lorenz farmed there until his death.
