Audrey Joyce Claassen, 86, of Appleton died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Pittsville, WI, on June 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Floyd and Iva (Abbott) Ayres.

Audrey worked at Appleton Health Care as a cook, retiring in 1993. She then worked for Ultimate Cleaning Services, at Hayes Manufacturing, retiring at the age of 76. Audrey was a supporter of giving blood, which she did often at Community Blood Center, Appleton. In her younger days, Audrey loved to go dancing with her best friend, Thelma Tyrell. She also enjoyed collecting funny animal pictures, and was an avid reader. Her greatest enjoyment came from just talking to people.

Audrey is survived by one daughter, one son, one brother, a foster daughter, two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one step great grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christina; her first husband, Donald Claassen; sister and brother-in-law, Iris (Gordon) Dempze; and her aunt and uncle, Grace and Phil Court.

Memorial service will be 11:30 AM on Saturday June 8, 2013 at Valley Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Huff officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Burial will be at Hobart Cemetery.
