Anthony Lawrence "Tony" Brown, 59, of 24 Midvale Drive, Verona, died April 4, 2006, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville. He was born Nov. 20, 1946, in Waynesboro, a son of the late Emil Anthony Brown and Hazel Margaret Craft Brown.
Mr. Brown was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former employee of Wilson Trucking in Fishersville. He was owner and operator of Tony's Road Service and Truck Garage, and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Staunton.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of a 28-year marriage, Carol Hise Brown; mother-in-law, Lillian Hise of Verona; two sons, Michael Lawrence Brown of Verona, and Ricky Lee Brown of Waynesboro; a daughter, Lisa Brown Showalter of Waynesboro; two brothers, Timothy Wayne Brown and wife, Alice, of Mount Sidney, and Emil "Butch" Brown of Waynesboro; three sisters, Gloria Ashby and husband, W.C., of Waynesboro, Teresa Hudson and husband, Lewis, of Waynesboro, and Paula Lowry and husband, George, "Joey," of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Anthony E. Brown, Kole P. Showalter, and Kerry A. Showalter, all of Waynesboro; special aunts, Barbara Wright and Mary Frye, both of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. April 8, 2006, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Staunton by Pastor Gregory Miller. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleums and Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Adkins, Richard Clark, Harmon Gray, Larry Strickler, Ernest Hartless, William Simmons Sr., Chuck Wilson and Michael Dove.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. April 7, 2006, at McDow Funeral Home.
