Dorothy Maxine Bergman, 80, of Stratford, Iowa, died Monday, November 5, 200l, at the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center.

Dorothy Maxine Bergman was born on August 6, 1921, in Littleton, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Grace (Manross) Hallman. She attended schools in Stratford. Dorothy was united in marriage to Lester C. Bergman on August 9, 1939, at the Lutheran Church Parsonage in Webster City. Jim and Edna Lundquist stood up with the couple. Dorothy and Lester farmed in the Stratford area until Lester's retirement in 1977. Dorothy also worked as a nurse's aide at the Hamilton County Hospital and cooked at the Pioneer Restaurant in Stratford. She moved to the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center in September of this year.

Dorothy was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church.
Her hobbies included camping, crocheting and playing solitaire. Dorothy and .Lester also enjoyed traveling, spending many of their winters in Arizona.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Christine and her husband Jeff Wilhelm of Woodburn, Iowa; three grandsons, Timothy and his wife, Deborah Bergman of Stratford, Iowa, Daniel Bergman and his girlfriend Brenda Geerdes of Stratford, Iowa, and Rodney Bergman of Rockwell City, Iowa; six great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Bergman in March of 2001; two sons, Ronald Bergman in 1985, and Richard Bergman in 1969; a daughter-in-law, Lois Bergman in March of 2000; and a grandson, Rickie Frette in 1979.
