Lillian Irene Henderson Eaton, a native of South Carolina, died suddenly at age 91. Daughter of Charles and Irene League Henderson, she was born in Bradley, SC. Her father died at age 37, and the family moved to Simpsonville, SC., to live with her grandmother, Robert (Bobbie) Holland League.
Following business college she had a long Federal civil service career at the Army Hospital at Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC.; Kennedy Army Hospital, Memphis, TN.; Travis Air Force Base Hospital, Fairfield, CA.; and Mare Island Naval Hospital, Vallejo, CA.
Lillian moved to Vallejo in 1945 to be with her husband, Lafayette Claud Eaton, Jr., who was badly injured at the Battle of Okinawa and was recovering at the hospital on Mare Island.
Claud, her husband of 62 years, preceded her in death on April 24, 2005. They are survived by their two sons, Lafayette Claud "Bud" Eaton, III and his wife Viviana, of Santiago, Chile, and James Albert "Jim" Eaton and his wife Wendy Cohen, of Davis, California; two grandchildren, Heather Gywnne Eaton and Melanie Gail Eaton and their mother Kathy Kennedy; two great grandchildren, Arleen Andrea Fernandez and Guillermo Andres Fernandez; and one great-great grandchild, Jessy Lopez.
