Tamara Jean Bowker, 43, of Laplant, SD passed away Saturday, Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. C.D.T, Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Church of God in Laplant and at 2:00 p.m., M.D.T., at Zintkala Hall in Cherry Creek. Burial followed at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cemetery in Cherry Creek. An all night wake began at 7:00 p.m. C.D.T, Friday, May 6, 2011 at the church in Laplant. A procession formed east of town at 5:00 p.m.

Tamara Jean was born August 17, 1967 to Delmas Sr. and Belva (Runs After) Romero at Pine Ridge, SD.

Tamara moved from Wamblee, Cherry Creek and then to Laplant where she married Harley Bowker.

Tamara received her G.E.D. and went on to attend Cheyenne River Community College where she received a degree in Early Childhood Development. After college she did fundraising for Head Start Centers where her children attended. Throughout the years Tamara also worked for the 2001 Census and was a flagger at C.C. Road.

She got along well with others and helped whenever she was needed. She liked to visit with her Facebook friends, listen to music of all sorts, and donate her time to her church and children. During Tamara's spare time she liked to clean, grill outside, sew, travel, do bead work, attend pow-wow's, spend time on the computer, go swimming at the river and attend Sunday church. She was also very proud of her grandchildren and special niece.

Tamara is survived by her husband, Harley Bowker; her children: Renessa (Elvis) Ordonez, Tia Bowker, Haylee Bowker, and Juanita Mae Romero; her grandchildren: Lei'lani, Emily, Alejandra, Adgn and the one on the way; her mother: Belva Runs After Romero; her aunts: Marilyn Runs After and Geneva Janis; her uncles: Gerald Quiver, Lewis Quiver, Al Romero, Ferdinand Romero; her siblings: Marion Romero, Rose Romero, Mable Romero, Justin Romero, Russell Romero, Susie Romero and James (Thomasnia) Romero and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father: Delmas Romero Sr.; her brothers: Max Romero and Delmas Romero Jr.; her sister: Florence Rose Romero; her grandpa: Olney Runs After; her grandmas: Susie Romero, Sophie Romero and Rosa Face; father-in-law: Jonas Bowker, Jr; nephew: Erick Scott and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Tamara's arrangements.
