James Carl Bailey, 71, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
He was born, Wednesday, February 1, 1939 in Batesville, Arkansas and was the son of Carl William and Noba Ann (Stroud) Bailey.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and looking for arrowheads in his spare time. He retired from Bailey’s Sawmill and also worked for Auvil Orchard’s. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church near Melbourne.
James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jennie (King) Bailey of the home; two sons: Ricky Bailey of Mount Pleasant, Jimmy Bailey of Ekalaka, Montana; one daughter, Pam Bailey of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren: Allen Bailey, Cody Stewart, Kristina Dew, Jamie Bailey, Breann Bailey, Kira Bailey; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marion Herrington and her husband, David of Sidney; Sharion Jeffery of Batesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul Bailey and Doug Bailey.
Pallbearers will be Hank Sollock, Johnny Sollock, Edward Sollock, Stacy Ram, Jeff Stroud, Doub Evans, Mark Herrington and Billy Givens. Honorary pallbearers are Allan Bailey, Cody Stewart, Jamie Bailey, Randy Guiltner, Brian Vest, David Herrington and Steve Dew.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Cornerstone Baptist Church near Melbourne with Bro. Elvis Sneathern officiating.
Burial will follow the services at the Barren Fork Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
