Harvey C. Harsh, 79, pastor emeritus of Immanual United Church of Christ, died Aug. 3, 1981, in his rural Lafayette residence. Born at Robertsville, OH, he graduated from Heidelberg College at Tiffin, OH, and Central Theological Seminary at Dayton, OH. Pastor Harsh served as associate pastor at Immanuel United Church of Christ for 12 years. He served on several commissions on the Indiana and Kentucky Conference of the United Church of Christ. During his early ministry, he was director of many youth camps. He had served churches at Ellerton, OH; Culver and Indianapolis, IN; Danville and River Grove, IL; and Detroit, MI. He recently retired as president of the National Genealogical Society and Palatines to America.

In 1927, he was married here to Mary Ellen "Marty" Wetzel, who survives with one daughter, Catharine (Mrs. Glen) Cassady of Ridgefarm, IL; and a son, Merwyn Harsh of Lafayette. Service Aug. 7 in Immanual United Church of Christ, Pastor James Bettin and Pastor Edward Duffy officiating. Internment Fair Haven Cemetery, Mulberry; Soller-Baker Lafayette Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
