FUNERAL HOME: Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby∼SHELBY - Mr. William H. Costner, 87, of 517 Leander St., died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Clem and Ada Devine Costner. He was a proud veteran who served in the Navy during WWII. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Brackett Costner; sister, Jewel Costner; and brothers, Bob and Warren Costner.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephannie Costner of Shelby; son, Bob Bridges and wife Sharline of Gastonia; sister, Virginia Costner of Charlotte; grandchildren; Andrew William Bridges, Christine Olander, and Jason Soderston, all of Gastonia.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Potts and the nursing staff at Wendover for their Kindness and consideration during this time.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3:30 p.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at his home.
