From The Stark County News, Wednesday, 26 March 1930
---Daughter of Toulon Pioneer Dies; Aged 82---
Toulon relatives have received word of the death of Mrs. Mary (Berfield) Lucy, a former well-known resident of Toulon, who passed away in February while enroute by train from Los Angeles, California to Kansas City, Missouri. Although her death occurred about a month ago, relatives in this city received news of her passing only recently. She was aged 82 years at the time of her death.
Doubtlessly many of the older residents of Toulon will remember Mrs. Lucy. She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Carson Berfield, pioneers of Toulon and Stark county. Mr. Berfield was one of the early settlers of Toulon and it was he who first surveyed Toulon in August 1841. Mrs. Berfield, before her marriage was Miss Elizabeth McClenahan.
Born in 1847, Mrs. Lucy graduated from Abingdon College and taught school for several years in Stark county. Her husband died many years ago. Two sons, Frank and Mac Lucy, and two daughters, Mrs. Arthur LaSueur, of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mrs. Marga Callicotte, of Kansas City, Missouri, survive.
Mrs. Lucys late home was in Los Angeles, California. She was coming from her home with her daughter, Mrs. Callicotte, with whom she was going to make her home. Before reaching Kansas City, she was suddenly stricken and passed away.###

Mrs. Lucy was aged 83 years at the time of her death.
Mary Antoinette Berfield was born in Stark county 17 January 1847.
