William E. McFain 87, of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Mr. McFain was born on August 11, 1924 in Granite City, Illinois a son of the late William Lee & Mildred (Massey) McFain. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War, and retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. He later worked for the Federal Government Defense Mapping Agency. Mr. McFain was a member of the Granite City V.F.W. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Maureen McFain-Bailey; sister Dorothy Michel. He is survived by his beloved wife Doris (Heintz) McFain; daughters Vicki Shope of Cottleville, Missouri, Billy Jean Rainey of Texas; sons Roger & Deborah McFain of Maryville, IL, Dana & Karen McFain of Arkansas; nephew Norbert Michel of Mexico; grandchildren Jeffrey Shope, Alex Shope, Kelsey Shope, Katie Taylor, Kelli McFain, Adam McFain, Andrew Bailey, Lucas Bailey, Autumn Rainey, Ashley Rainey, Tammy Kelly; extended family and friends
